Stillness can be scary for some of us. It’s like we are all constantly on the go. There are so many competing demands on our attention and the list seems to get longer by the day. Being “still” can feel impossible, let alone finding a moment in that.

So then how can we find happiness in stillness? Here are 5 sure and easy ways to do just that.
1. NATURE.
You don’t have to take a trip to the Costa Rican rainforest to find this. A park, a balcony, a lake, the beach. Whatever you can find, try to sit and watch, walk in, observe or just be part of nature every once in awhile for even a few minutes of your day. Nature is a true example of beauty in stillness.
2. SILENCE THE INNER DIALOGUE.
It’s not always easy finding your inner place of stillness in life. Meditation cuts the ceaseless chatter of your mind and allows you to access the still, quiet calm of your deeper consciousness. Try to meditate daily, or as often as you can.
3. A STILL BODY CAN QUIET YOUR WORLD.
With tools like yoga and tai chi, you can adopt asanas and positions where you can sustain and relax the body with your breath. It can be a quiet meditation of itself if you focus in on each pose.
4. STOP AND BE GRATEFUL.
When you are on the go constantly, the noise of your life may be a distraction from an underlying sense of discontent. Start to celebrate the wonderful things in your life by taking a few minutes a day to think of and write down what you truly grateful for. It allows you to pause and reflect on the beauty of your life.
5. LAUGH.
Often and a lot. Finding joy and laughter in moments allows you to truly be there, in it and fully present.
