We all have been there…difficult times. Sometimes these adversities come in waves. Sometimes they come out of nowhere…and facing the challenge can change our lives or even our beliefs.
While many of these situations come in different colors for each of us, so do our reactions. What one person sees as negative, someone else could see as positive like the loss of a job. The one unifying factor though is the flood of emotions and sense of uncertainty.
And the unifying way most of us can tackle these emotions and uncertainty is by developing resilience.
Luckily, resilience isn’t in innate trait. It’s something you can foster, so here are 3 simple strategies to help you bounce back from anything:
- Focus on your relationships. There are many studies that show how strong, supportive relationships are one of the primary factors in resilience. Whether it’s family, friends, colleagues, or support groups, having that network of encouragement, support, love and trust is a key factor to the ability to overcome adversity.
- Accept change.
- “Of course there is no formula for success except, perhaps, an unconditional acceptance of life and what it brings.” ~Arthur Rubinstein
- When change occurs, especially if it is painful, it’s natural to wish that it hadn’t occurred at all. But once it’s there, continuing to fight the change only keeps you stuck in difficult emotions and a hard place. Instead, simply try to acknowledge that the change is hard, painful and unwanted. Then, when you are ready, ask yourself how you want to live and what type of person you want to be as you go forward.
- Remember your strength. By asking yourself how you’ve dealt with adversity in the past, you can recall what ways you were strong. You can recall your strengths. Are you optimistic? Are you a apt decision maker? Are you persistent? Using these strengths to your advantage will surely help you bounce back.
It’s not easy but know that you can rise, you can overcome and continue on with these strategies…and with helpful tools.

the universe does listen. I am going through a rough patch right now and i need to read this to help me persevere.
just want to reach out to Pam. Sending love, compassion and support. We are just other humans walking the earth and trying to do so to the best of our abilities. 🙂
Pamela, you are unique, one of a kind, powerful, and if you decide, unstoppable. Whatever the adversity, your focus on your individual greatness will lift you up. It could be physical, emotional, financial, or interpersonal, you can choose how to feel, how to act, and what you envision being. Do not feel alone and pick that one someone to talk to. What will help is to be outside, rain , snow, or sunshine, and feel Nature’s awesomeness. Close your eyes and just feel. In this very moment, life is perfect and that feeling of gratitude should be overflowing. Concentrating on whatever it is that is bringing you down will only attract more of this negative substance. Lift up your thoughts and your mood and immune system will also rise. Whatever it is, you are strong enough, good enough, and smart enough to meet it head on and prevail. You are worthy and should take the time to love yourself more. Because you are worth it. Try to see any benefit or positive to that thing that is bringing you down. Even if it is the worst, there must be something that is a positive. If not readily noticeable, try to find something or make it up. The point is that your thoughts can improve where it is that you are or continue sinking you. What you can try is to comfort someone else which will automatically lift your spirits. Giving, a God’s law just like the law of Attraction, will open up for you the invisible faucet of harmony, love, peace, and joy. I am sending you blessings because you deserve it. Please find the good even if it is bad. Just remember that you are worthy and awesome. Dr. Randall Nozawa, The Bounce Back Blind Guy.
